SISS Released AI Governance in 2019: a Year in Review Observations OF 50 Global Experts (English Version)

  SISS officially released the report AI Governance in 2019: A Year in Review Observations of 50 Global Experts (English version) on April 30, 2020. Media such as Xinhua News Agency, Jiefang Daily, Wenhui Daily, China Science Daily, Shanghai Television Station, Shanghai Media Group, The Paper, Shanghai Daily attended the press conference. Shi Qian, Director of SISS, chaired the conference and Wang Yingchun, Head of SISS’s Research Department of Science, Technology and Society, introduced the background of the report. Li Hui from Research Department of Science, Technology and Society, represented the editing group and did the presentation.


  The report is the first AI governance report written by top global experts in the industry, introduced by the Chinese think tank with global engagement. Fifty experts (44 research groups), including Ms Fu Ying, Dean of Tsinghua University CISS, Professor John Hopcroft, a Turing Award Laureate, Mr Irakli Beridze, a Nobel Peace Prize Laureate, Ms Eva Kaili, Member of European Parliament, Professor Yang Qiang, Chairman of AAAI2021, Ms Francesca Rossi, Chairman of AAAI 2020, contributed their insights in this report.


  Fifty experts co-authoring the report were from globally- significant research institutes or organization specialized in AI governance, including Ministry of Science and Technology of the People's Republic of China Center for New Generation AI Development Studies, Chinese Academy of Science and Technology for Development, UN Center for Artificial Intelligence and Robotics, European Parliament, AI HLEG, OECD AI expert group, IEEE-SA, OPEN AI, UC Berkeley Center for Human-Compatible AI, University of Oxford Future of Humanity Institute Centre for the Governance of AI,  University of Cambridge Centre for the Future of Intelligence and Centre for Risk Studies, Chinese Academy of Social Sciences, Tsinghua University, Fudan University and so on.


  The report was led by the team of SISS and accomplished with the joint effort of international partners. And the team also invited the authors all over the world to write, edit and accomplish collaboratively, following the vision of a community of shared future for mankind with an open and cooperative attitude.
